Terminal Avenue Improvements – Port of Everett

This project relocated the main entry to the Port of Everett Marine Terminal from Bond Street to Hewitt Avenue to provide improved security and to provide traffic queueing lanes for inbound vehicles.

This project created three 400-foot long traffic queueing lanes for inbound traffic. Construction of the queueing lanes required construction of a multi-lane wide access from Terminal Avenue (a City of Everett Street) to a holding area on Port of Everett property, parallel to Terminal Avenue. These lanes were constructed with a 4-inch Class B asphalt pavement over a 7-inch Asphalt Treated Base (ATB) over compacted subgrade.

The security guard house was relocated and new automated barrier arm gates werte installed to provide control of inbound and outbound traffic. An existing rail track was demolished and replaced with a new rail and a 64-foot long concrete panel traffic crossing.

The project was coordinated with a City of Everett project to provide a pedestrian trail from California Avenue to a public waterfront area approximately one mile to the south. The project required relocation of the Port security fence and installation of new fencing to provide a barrier to vehicle traffic lanes and the BNSF right-of-way.

Existing substandard pavements were demolished and relaced with new Class B asphalt on compacted base materials. Storm drainage improvements and utility relocations were made. News sidewalks, curbs and gutters were constructed, including ADA ramps and crosswalks.
