Multi-disciplinary A-E Design Projects
Olympic College, Bremerton, Washington

Washington Engineering is providing on-call multi-disciplinary A/E services at Olympic College, including the following projects:

Science Building Bathroom Remodel - This project renovated the men and womens bathrooms to replace outdated fixtures and to comply with ADA accessibility standards. The work also included installation of a backflow preventer in the building domestic water supply. New fixtures and finishes were provided throughout. Existing asbestos materials were removed.

Humanities Building Condition Assessment - Washington Engineering completed a condition assessment on this 40-year old building to identify the causes of structural distress and suitability of existing mechanical and electrical systems in the building. The report identified the need for $800K of repairs over the next three years.

Campuswide Electrical Distribution System Study - The existing campus electrical distribution system has experienced major system faults in the past. The report identified the need for replacement of the XLP cabling in the system and the need to install nine above ground switching panels to improve system reliability.

Physical Education Building Shower Room Renovation - This project replaces nine existing 5-head shower column columns in the mens and womens shower rooms, modifies the piping to install isolation valves and installs a backflow preventer to eliminate cross-connection potential.

Lincoln Street Parking Lot Construction – The project constructs a new 140 vehicle parking lot on the site of an abandoned elementary school. Work included topographical survey, design of asphalt pavements, design of concrete walkways, installation of storm drainage catch basins and piping and installation of an oil/water separator. We also coordinated environmental review and permitting with the City of Bremerton.

Electrical Ductbank Relocation - This project relocated 300 linear feet of 12.5 kV electrical duct bank and installed new conductor to clear a site for construction of the new Learning Resource Center.

Emergency Power Generator Installation - This project installed a 35 kW generator and two 500 gallon propane tanks to provide backup power to critical computer, telephone and fire alarm systems on the campus. Work included site development, construction of equipment support pads, installation of new electrical panels, transfer switch, disconnect switches and associated conduit and cabling.
