Replace Underground Heating System
Olympic College, Bremerton, Washington
This project provides the complete replacement of Olympic College's underground heat distribution piping with a utilidor loop circling the campus and direct buried piping feeds to the individual buildings. The project scope included a project definition stage, where the use of standalone boiler systems in some or all of the buildings was considered as an alternative. The option of a utilidor and building feeds serving all the buildings on campus was selected, however, and it will serve not only to deliver heat to the buildings, but will also carry fire alarm circuits, fiber optic LAN cables, and future telephone service.
Washington Engineering provided complete project design, including construction observation and support. Our design team incorporated the needs and wants of Olympic College Physical Plant Personnel, Faculty and Staff, and Washington State Division of Engineering and Architectural Services (DEAS). Washington Engineering provided Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Structural Engineering Design, and addressed issues relating to Architectural Design. The design phase of this project was completed ahead of schedule and construction is proceeding on schedule.
Specific project features include:
- Complete construction support services including submittal review, billing and change order approval, and on-site support.
- Construction documentation including as-built drawings, photographs, daily report database, provided to the client on a compact disc at the end of the project
- Complete civil engineering for utility reroutes and grade control
- Mechanical engineering design and construction support
- Electrical engineering design for fiber optic network, fire alarm cabling, energy monitoring system, and provisions for future networks including telephone.
Key Project Features:
- Construction Support and Documentation
- Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering
- Incorporation of Campus Architectural Features
