Seabeck Playshed Repair & Infrastructure Projects

Scope of Work Summary

This project consists of repair work for five separate schools located within the Central Kitsap County School District. Washington Engineering provided a definition of the scope of work, evaluation of problems, cost estimating, construction documents, bid evaluation, and construction support for:

1. Seabeck Elementary School Play Shed

This project included analysis and repair of a play shed attached to an existing school building. Repair included replacement of structural beams, framing and siding detailed to repel high moisture conditions, and included extension of the storm drainage system adjacent to the play shed.

2. Ridgetop Junior High School

This project included evaluation of water migration through the building envelope. The evaluation resulted in roof recommendations, preparation of existing brick, brick joints and windows adjacent to brick surfaces for resealing, recaulking and refinishing for purposes of decreasing deterioration due to water incursion. This work included courtyard glazing repair, and glazing replacement. Construction joints in a south and east facing masonry, gymnasium wall were re caulked.

3. Central Kitsap Junior High School

This project included replacement of structural glu-lam beam ends deteriorating due to weather exposure, repair and replacement of roof and fascia components, and interior construction work necessary to support asbestos abatement. Window repair was scheduled for this school, but the discovery of asbestos in glazing putty placed this part of the project into a different category requiring completion at a different time.

4. Fairview Junior High

This project included evaluation of an existing storm drainage system, and included repair of exterior siding, soffits, and rebuilding storm drainage components. Exterior storm drains composed of catch basins filled with drainage rocks and covered with galvanized steel grates were rebuilt, and recovered. The storm drain system was tested for satisfactory operation.

5. Tracyton Elementary School

This project included evaluation of water migration through masonry walls, and window walls. Asbestos was discovered in window putty that placed the repair of existing windows in a category necessary for completion at a different time.
