This project provides for the schematic design of a new Maintenance Facility and Transportation Headquarters, including demolition of an antiquated elementary school which currently serves the Bremerton School District as its Maintenance Facility, Transportation Headquarters, and Building Trades Shops. Replacement of this facility would be with a new facility on the existing site.
The existing facility is a World War II era elementary school which has been modified over the years to serve its current functions. The building contains lead paint and asbestos which will have to be abated prior to demolition.
A schematic design was completed for a 29,000 gsf replacement facility, including a Grounds & Landscaping Building and a main building housing Administrative areas, Warehouse/Food Storage, Maintenance Shops, Administrative Print Shop, and Transportation Support Services. A bus parking and washing area was also included in the site development design.

- Obtaining data for existing facility demolition, including probable locations and quantities of hazardous materials.
- Staff interviews
- Identification of major cost related issues
- Programming, including code & permitting requirements
- Production of a Schematic Site Design
