Renovation/Addition to Youth Center
McChord Air Force Base, Washington
This project designed a 7,000 sf classroom/administrative addition and a 1200 bleacher/equipment storage addition on an existing Youth Center Facility. The project also includes complete renovation of 14,000 sf of existing space. Work included architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design. Site work includes design of a passenger drop-off area, expansion of the parking area and design of outdoor play areas.
Some of the key features of the renovation are:
- Reinforced concrete foundation and slab on grade
- CMU and metal panel walls
- Complete renovation of the existing spaces, including new floor coverings, wall coverings and eflected ceilings
- Comprehensive Color and finish planning
- Sound control
- Site improvements including a passenger drop-off zone in front of the building, fencing, parking area construction and construction of outside play areas
- Upgrading and modernization of the EMCS system
- Replacement of major mechanical and electrical components including the boiler system, water chiller and primary transformer
- Installation of closed circuit television surveillance system
- Asbestos and lead paint sampling and remediation
