Air Passenger Terminal Renovation
McChord Air Force Base, Washington

This project was for the complete interior renovation of an existing 30,000 sf air passenger terminal. The project included demolition of various walls and mechanical components. Upgrades included the design of new administrative spaces, ticketing counters, and a glass block enclosed passenger enplaning area. All bathroom facilities were modernized to comply with Federal Accessibility standards.

Key features included:

  • Field surveys to identify scope of demolition work on structural, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Provide new passenger check-in/service counters
  • Remodel all toilet facilities for compliance to the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards
  • Replace outdated mechanical and electrical systems, including the public address system, lighting, power distribution and fire alarm systems
  • Improve the enplaning area by rearrangement and installation of glass-block security barriers and improved lighting
  • Structural analysis for earthquake loads and design of modifications to accommodate additional doors and windows on the west side of the facility
  • Graphics, signage and interior design
