Pest Control Facilities,
McChord Air Force Base, Washington, Fort Lewis, Washington
and Yakima Training Center, Washington

These facilities generally require separation of occupied office areas from hazardous materials storage and handling areas. Separation is achieved by physically separating the space as illustrated above, or by providing internal walls, doors and dedicated HVAC systems as illustrated by the facility below.

Insecticide, Herbicide Mixing and Storage Building, McChord AFB, WA

The Herbicide Facility is residential scale and built entirely from steel studs. The Herbicide facility has no lab, is not sprinkled and mixing is outside in the drive-through.

Design features include:

  • Spill storage capacity built into the floor without connection to the storm drain/sanitary system.
  • Floor spills are cleaned up by portable pumping and similar methods.
  • Spill control at loading/mixing locations.
  • Limited storage capacity reduces fire and HVAC requirements.
  • Vehicle storage, maintenance, or flammable materials exclusion from these facilities reduces hazard associated with fire.
  • Drive through capability provides for decontamination capability.
  • Local air pollution control authority permitting and compliance
  • Emergency Eyewash Facilities
  • Locker, toilet, shower, and breakroom facilities

Pest Control Storage Facility, Fort Lewis, WA
(Identical Facility at Yakima Training Center, WA)

Each Pest Control facility is a 3000 SF standard steel building. The Pest Control Facility maintains a complete laboratory, and is a sprinkled facility where mixing of materials takes place inside the building.

Design features include:

  • Spill storage capacity built into the floor without connection to the storm drain/sanitary system.
  • Personnel Showers & Decontamination Area
  • Floor spills are cleaned up by portable pumping and similar methods.
  • Spill control at loading/mixing locations.
  • Fire and HVAC protection at mixing locations
  • Vehicle storage, maintenance, or flammable materials exclusion from these facilities reduces hazard associated with fire.
  • Drive through capability provides for decontamination capability.
  • Crew Operations support; Break Room, Facility Laundry, Rest Rooms
  • Local air pollution control authority permitting and compliance

Key Project Features:

  • Hazardous Material Storage
  • Spill Containment
  • Complete HVAC and Electrical Systems
  • Personnel Support Spaces including breakrooms, restrooms, and showers
